About This Spot

When you step into Josefinas Mex. Café, nestled in the heart of River Oaks, TX, it immediately feels like a cherished neighborhood refuge. The hum of conversation mixes effortlessly with the warmth radiating from the kitchen, where family hands craft every plate. The pace is unhurried, inviting you to settle in, savor each moment, and soak in the authentic, no-frills charm that only time and tradition can nurture.

This isn’t just a place to eat—it’s a space where familiar faces meet and the love for Mexican cuisine unfolds naturally. The atmosphere balances a lively buzz with genuine warmth, evidence of the care woven into every corner. You might find yourself drawn in by the vibrant salsa bar or the comforting aroma of freshly made tortillas, setting the stage for a meal that feels both simple and special.

Josefinas offers more than just food; it serves connection. The kitchen pulses with the spirit of home cooking, evident in dishes that carry a clarity of flavor and a touch of heat that speaks of heritage. Whether it’s the morning ritual of huevos rancheros or the weekend ritual of meticulously prepared barbacoa, each bite echoes a story of devotion, family, and community.

What stands out most here is the genuine hospitality—no matter how busy the café gets, you’re met with attentive kindness, as if entering a friend’s dining room. The sense of belonging lingers just as strongly as the taste of dishes like pozole or chilaquiles verdes. It’s a spot that doesn’t chase trends but quietly earns its place in the hearts of those who crave honest flavors and heartfelt moments.

People giving negative reviews are crazy, this is my go to for breakfast almost every weekend. Ive been going to eat at Josefinas since they had their Azle location. Jessica and her family are nothing but professional and take care of you every time. Her father is the cook and is always doing a wonderful job. Be sure to try the green salsa, its spicy and amazing!

Found this spot on a whim while in Fort Worth for the weekend—best decision ever! Authentic “hole-in-the-wall” vibes, packed parking lot (always a good sign), amazing food, great service, and the owner himself still cooking. You can taste the love in every bite. PS. Best Migas Ever!

This restaurant is simply amazing. The service is excellent and one is treated like family here. The food is sublime as it all tasted very fresh and made with love. Our go to meal is the menudo. It's a mean Menudo packed with flavor. Also, the barbacoa during the weekend is so tasty. The barbacoa is so tender and delicious it will make you beg for more. We have gone through most of the menudo and all of it has been amazing. I totally recommend this place if you are looking for more authentic Mexican food in a chill cozy atmosphere.

Ordered the chilaquiles verdes, and they were spicy but super good!!! Must have them! The pancakes were delicious! The staff was very nice and welcoming!

The food here is great! I love the menu do and tortillas. Servers are nice although they're usually busy. If you go on a busy day, its a little chaotic but they take care of you as best as they can. The food is worth the other stuff.

Went for breakfast. Had the chorizo & egg. It came with refried beans & potatoes. Very flavorful. I would definitely try other things on the menu. Staff was very friendly! Didn’t like the corn tortillas- tasted like store bought. So next time I will order flour. Give this place a try! Sidenote: maybe I’m being picky but I ask for just a very small sample of the menudo. The kitchen refused. I would have paid for it. Oh well.
